Carve your own shadow and light in this late-morning workshop where we’ll handbuild ceramic candle wall hangings from scratch. Using slab-building techniques, texture tools, and your creative spark, you’ll shape 1-2 one-of-a-kind lanterns that cast glowing patterns onto your walls when lit.
Whether you go for moody mandalas or cosmic polka dots, this is your chance to design a functional piece of art that brings warmth and mystery to your space.
This is a small group class (max 8 people) perfect for a quiet creative morning—whether you bring a friend, a date, or just your brilliant self. All pieces will be glazed and fired after class and ready for pickup in a few weeks.
Desirae Holsinger is a multidisciplinary artist with a BFA in Studio Art (2019), concentrating in Ceramics and minoring in Art Education. While she has explored polymer clay and stained glass, her current focus is primarily on ceramics, where she blends function with whimsy, grit, and storytelling. Desirae is the artist behind Stray Cat Studios, a brand known for its darkly playful, small-batch creations. Outside the studio, she brings her teaching skills to life by training coworkers on equipment and digital systems in a warehouse setting. She’s passionate about making art approachable, joyful, and just the right amount of strange.
Refunds minus a 10% or $20 processing fee (whichever is lower) are offered until 14 days before the start of class. After that, we do not offer refunds. We don’t offer refunds for missed classes, so please be sure you can attend all sessions of a class, or that you are okay with missing any that you’ll be away for.
